Click HERE to view the full recruitment brochure. Position Summary The city is seeking to fill an Assistant City Manager position on its leadership team. The successful candidate will be appointed by and serve at the pleasure of the City Manager. The City Council is required to confirm the City Manager's appointment of the Assistant City Manager.
The Assistant City Manager is expected to excel in the culture of excellence that has been the hallmark of City Administration. The Assistant City Manager must embrace teamwork and be a willing contributor in response to the myriad of issues presented to City Administration and project assignments from the City Manager.
The Assistant City Manager is responsible for providing oversight of and support to the City Development, Parks and Recreation, Public Library, and Community Relations Departments, as well as the Office of Human Resources. In furtherance of these duties, the Assistant City Manager should have competency and understanding of all facets of operations in each of these key areas. The Assistant City Manager will need to develop an excellent working relationship with the leadership of these departments and ensure that their key initiatives are being implemented. In addition, the Assistant City Manager will have significant day to day interaction with the Mayor and City Council.
Summary of Benefits The annual base salary range is $176,0000 to $187,000. Additional benefits include a City provided vehicle or a vehicle allowance, 401(a) retirement plan with city (10.5 percent of base) and employee (5.0 percent of base) annual contributions, retirement health savings (RHS) plan annual contribution of $3,500, paid time off (PTO), twelve paid holidays, performance-based pay (6.67 percent of base), health and life insurance, and advanced degree allowance of $2,500. Access to an onsite health and wellness center staffed with a physician! Every other Friday off!
Minimum Qualifications •A bachelor's degree in public administration or a related field from an accredited college or university. A master's degree is desirable.
•Must have seven or more years of work experience in a leadership position with a local government, with at least five of those years serving as a City Manager or Assistant City Manager.
