Position Title: Assistant Director of Bands/Instructor of Music

Department: Academics

Immediate Supervisor’s Title: Fine Arts Department Chair

Positions Supervised: None

Term of Position: 10 Months

Position Description:(primary functions)

The Assistant Band Director will work closely in conjunction with the Director of Bands to provide quality classroom instruction and assist with a variety of administrative duties for the entire band program.

Minimum Requirements:

Master’s Degree in Music (with experience in directing, supervising, and managing auxiliary groups and teaching instrumental music for marching band, concert band, and other small ensembles).

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

• Co-direct the marching and concert band, as well as directing chamber ensembles
• Direct the basketball pep band
• Teach Music Appreciation as the Department Chair may see fit to add to the academic schedule
• Teach Applied Instrumental Music Classes
• Assist with recruitment and retention of band program members
