Departmental Overview The Department of Recreation & Wellbeing provides competitive and recreational opportunities for students, faculty, staff and campus affiliated community members. In addition to the 30 sports clubs, the department offers a wide range of recreational activities and state of the art equipment. Application Review Date The First Review Date for this job is: 8/23/2024 Responsibilities Manages the Athletic Trainer program within the Office of Competitive Sports including 30 Sport Club teams (1,700+athletes). Primarily focuses on sideline coverage and care but will also focus on prevention, evaluation, treatment, and care of athletic related injuries as time allows. Provides coverage and travel, as needed, prioritizing high impact games, practices and tournaments necessary including days, nights, weekends and holidays, as needed. This position will provide oversight of athletic trainers and other associated personnel in the prevention and care of injuries to athletes under the Office of Competitive Sports. This position will also supervise the maintenance of athletic training facilities and equipment, the annual ordering of supplies and purchasing new equipment. Athletic trainers including this position will provide medical support for RecWell Youth programs, as needed, over the summer while all Competitive Sports areas are in off-season. *Key Responsibilities 50% - Administer sideline care and provide coverage for events. Provide timely first aid and emergency treatment to injured athletes at official practices and competitions. May include scheduling with third parties for practices and games when unable to staff. 20% - Performs administrative tasks to include, but not limited to coordination of athletic coverage for Sport Club and Competitive Sport events and activities. Admin duties assigned by the Sport Club Director and Associate Director of Competitive Sports Office other than Athletic Training Room duties. Teach First Aid/CPR/AED Certification workshops for coaches, captains, team safety officers, Recreation staff, and youth programs staff. Maintaining training facilities, equipment and supplies. 10% - Applies professional concepts to deliver comprehensive, individualized and effective athletic training to optimize athletic performance, prevent injuries and provide rehabilitation for chronic and acute injuries and conditions. Utilizes treatment plans incorporating a full range of therapeutic modalities, devices, and rehabilitation techniques, within the scope of a certified athletic trainer, as resources allow. Provides concussion management and tracking. 5% - Manage the Athletic training program, coaches, and other supporting Athletic Trainers on staff. Keeps current on methods of instruction, techniques, and care through peer review programs. Actively engages in professional development activities appropriate for an experienced professional in their field. 5% - Provides athletes / patients with functional movement and performance enhancement training to improve function, avoid injuries and recover safely. Guides therapeutic exercise programs that provide moderate to complex rehabilitation of athletic injuries as time allows. 5% - Assists in serving as summer camp medic with other Competitive Sport Athletic Trainers from RecWell to collect camper medicine and provide medication as provided by parents and under camper's signed physician orders. Other duties as assigned. 5% - Follows and enforces safety procedures. Reports injuries, completes relevant injury documentation, and maintains accurate medical records. Reports injuries to department and medical system as required, including coordinating care with physicians and specialists in a multidisciplinary manner. Required Qualifications
