We are thrilled to announce an exciting opportunity for a Bookkeeper with a prominent non-profit organization in Guelph. This hybrid role requires the selected candidate to work onsite 2 days a week, for a 12-month contract.

 

Key Responsibilities:

 

  • Maintain the general ledger and sub-ledgers 
  • Ensure all accounts are reconciled in a timely manner
  • Prepare accounts receivable and process bank deposits.
  • Actively investigate and resolve incoming payment irregularities and members’ billing issues.
  • Preparation of monthly accounting statements (accounts receivable, invoices, late fees, etc.)
  • Support Accounts Payables processes and functions including processing payments and bank transactions.
  • Ensure accurate processing of employees’ credit card reconciliations, payments, etc.
  • Promptly prepares and addresses all financial documentation for external auditor(s), government stakeholders, and members.

 

 

Must-Have Qualifications:

 

  • Must have post-secondary education in finance, accounting or a similar field
  • Accounting general ledger experience, capital expenditure sub-ledger experience, monthly journalizing of accounting accruals, and accounts reconciliation experience.
  • Must have experience and knowledge of Harmonized Sales Tax (HST) impacts, processing remittances to the government, and how to journalize into the general ledger.
  • 2 years experience in a similar role
  • Intermediate knowledge and experience with QuickBooks Online and QuickBooks Desktop; additional knowledge of other financial/accounting software is an asset.
  • Ability to independently produce a full set of financial statements (balance sheet, income statement, cash flow), reconciliation reports, and other accounting reports.
  • Skilled in the use of MS Office Suite and Office 365 applications with good knowledge of Excel.
  • Excellent communicator in written and spoken English.
