The Trade and Supply Chain Department (CTS) is one of the industry groups at IFC, with both investment and advisory services delivered to IFC’s clients through IFC’s global network. IFC's priorities in Trade are: (i) grow investment and advisory solutions in all regions it operates in, while achieving strong profitability and development impact; (ii) build new and nurture existing client relationships to make IFC the preferred partner for key clients; (iii) manage portfolio of assets for strong profitability and impact; (iv) support local companies, while improving transparency and corporate governance; (v) catalyze foreign investment, including mobilizing B loans, parallel loans, and other forms of capital mobilization; (vi) introduce and develop new financial solutions, products, and platforms; (vii) build long-term partnerships with strong regional players; (viii) develop client, sector, and country-level solutions through interventions that can be scaled and replicated; and (ix) be a thought leader and innovator of products and client solutions globally. Global trade is an engine of growth that creates jobs, reduces poverty, and increases economic opportunities. It is a key driver of integration and opportunities for local enterprises in emerging markets and developing countries. Financing trade is fundamental to the movement of goods at all stages of the supply chain and can have a strong development impact in developing countries. IFC’s trade finance programs offer guarantees, risk-sharing facilities, loans, and other structured products to support trade in emerging markets. Through these various products, IFC has supported more than 400 financial institutions and thousands of underlying companies in more than 90 countries across all regions of the globe. To date, IFC’s Trade and Supply Chain Finance has supported over $200 billion in global trade, all of which is directly linked to the movement of specific goods across emerging market borders. CTS manages IFC’s trade and supply chain finance related products, starting with its flagship program of Global Trade Finance Program (GTFP) and other programs. IFC is looking for an experienced professional with excellent technical and management skills, deep experience in leading trade finance community globally, and a proven ability to engage with the most senior levels of management as well as leading external experts in the industry in areas pertaining to the unit’s work program. The Global Product Manager will be responsible for the deployment of the existing trade programs and for the development of new products that can maximize IFC’s development impact in the trade industry. This includes leading strategy and product/program development in the area of trade and supply chain finance and the creation of platforms for IFC as well as for the trade community. He/She will also be requested to expand thought leadership in trade and supply chain finance externally and internally within WBG. The Global Product Manager will report to the CTS Global Director and will be based in Washington DC. Duties and Accountabilities Lead the CTS Global Product Team and be responsible for CTS Program delivery by supporting the CTS Global Business Manager through in-depth knowledge of trade and supply chain products. Provide expert product knowledge in trade and supply chain finance, internally and externally. Lead the development of new products to increase IFC’s impact. Manage credit approach for all products, develop standardized documentation and approval processes. Manage relationships with Confirming Banks, Insurance Companies and other potential investors. Supervise the Operations and Portfolio of all CTS transactions, in connection with the JV Departments. Monitor profitability. Increase IFC’s activities in key priority areas, such as Mobilization, Climate and Gender. Promote knowledge-sharing in trade and supply chain finance within IFC and World Bank as well as more broadly across the trade community. Deepen IFC and World Bank’s knowledge in trade and supply chains and through relationships with DFIs/WTO and private sector players, lead the industry landscape and deliver advisory programs to increase clients’ capacity and implement best practices. Act as a focal point of collaboration with internal IFC and World Bank stakeholders to support the WBG priorities, such as IDA/FCS, climate, sustainability, gender, SMEs, etc. in areas of trade and supply chain finance. Be responsible for stakeholders’ engagement including the Board, donors, governments, trade associations, etc. Provide full range of administrative and HR management oversight. Selection Criteria Master's degree or equivalent professional qualification in Business and/or Finance, Economics, International Development, International Banking. Minimum of 12 years of experience in the Financial Sector, including at least 7 to 10 years focusing on Trade and Supply Chain Finance. Deep knowledge of Trade and Supply Chain Finance products, including Distributor and Receivables Financing and Trade digitalization. Demonstrated investment track record in sourcing, structuring and managing Trade and Supply Chain Finance transactions in Emerging Markets. Ability to represent IFC externally and to develop and manage relationships with clients, governments, media, donors, and to work collaboratively with World Bank, other DFIs, and other industry stakeholders. Strong business development and client relationship skills, demonstrated network relevant for the team’s business, track record and ability to focus on clients’ needs effectively; strong sense of service to clients and demonstrated business development aptitude; proven success in developing client relationships. Ability to plan and manage staff to achieve high quality results and encourage innovation in an open team-based environment, inspiring trust and influencing and resolving differences across organizational boundaries. Ability to develop innovative solutions and challenge the status quo in order to build the business.
