Job Description
POSITION SUMMARY:
This person is responsible for supporting the Esports Head Coach in overseeing the Esports Program and assisting in coaching the Esports Teams.
This is a Graduate Assistant position. You must have already been accepted or anticipate acceptance into a MACU Graduate program before the term of employment begins. Compensation includes a full tuition scholarship and stipend.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Serve as the assistant coach of the MACU Esports Program
• Assist in creating esports opportunities for varsity, club, and tournament play
• Provide opportunities for spiritual development of varsity esports team members
• Assist in scheduling and coordinating matches and meets for varsity esports team
• Assist in monitoring grades, class attendance, and chapel attendance for varsity esports team members
• Assist in monitoring Evangel AAA participation for varsity esports team members
• Assist in recruiting varsity esports team members
• Assist in helping retain varsity esports team members to graduation, including monitoring eligibility
• Assist with marketing of the esports program
• Assist with maintaining social media for the esports program
• Assist in maintaining the esports competition, practice, and spectating areas
• Assist in maintaining compliance with esports requirements of the National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA), the National Association of Collegiate Esports (NACE), the National Esports Collegiate Conference (NECC), and the Oklahoma Association of Collegiate Esports (OACE)
• Other responsibilities as assigned by supervisor
QUALIFICATIONS:
Video game knowledge and experience; ability to mentor and develop students; minimum 2.75 CGPA in an undergraduate program; strong organizational skills.
EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:
Bachelors required; esports experience recommended.
COMPUTER SKILLS:
Video game proficient; PC software knowledge/updated knowledge of PC gaming; streaming knowledge and/or experience.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
Must be able to sit for extended periods of time doing work on a computer and phone. Must be able to pull, push, lift, engage in repetitive motions, communicate, including expressing oneself or exchanging information with others; see, including color, depth perception, and clarity; and hear, including receiving detailed information orally. Ability to lift up to 30 pounds. Exposure to visual images, including flashing lights and visual patterns that may appear in video games.
WORK ENVIRONMENT:
Extended screen time, including in dark environments; ability to work flexible schedules, including evenings and weekends as needed.
