Part-Time, Non-Union, Non-Exempt Position $15.69 per hour, 15 hours per week BASIC FUNCTION OF MEALS ON WHEELS DRIVER: Operate Meals on Wheels vehicle in a safe, efficient manner to deliver meals to program clients.
RESPONSIBILITIES OF MEALS ON WHEELS DRIVER: - Safe, responsible and careful operation of program vehicle.
- Deliver meals to homebound clients and congregate meal sites as directed.
- Follow safe food handling procedures including maintenance of vehicle interior and exterior sanitation.
- Monitor client well-being by making contact at time of delivery and notifying supervisor of any change in client condition; institute emergency procedure as necessary.
- Maintain contact with central office to facilitate communication.
- Communicate with Meals on Wheels Coordinator to develop efficient route plan; follow daily delivery schedule.
- Ensure assigned vehicle is in good operating condition prior to loading meals; maintain daily vehicle operating checklist, mileage and maintenance logs, daily route records and other documentation as required; fill fuel tank at end of daily route.
- Check accuracy of meal count prior to loading each morning.
- Safeguard any donations received from clients.
- Timely notification of vehicle problems and delivery of vehicle to authorized vendors for service.
- Participate in training as directed by supervisor.
Requirements
REQUIREMENTS OF MEALS ON WHEELS DRIVER: Education: HS or GED
Experience: Minimum 2 years driving experience.
Job Skills: - Excellent driving record, with no moving violations.
- Flexibility.
- Positive attitude.
- Ability to work under pressure.
- Good interpersonal and communication skills.
- Ability to read and understand maps, street signs and delivery route sheets.
- Able to drive mid-size truck and back up using only side view mirrors; highway driving.
Licenses /certifications: Valid CT driver's license.
