Remote Bookkeeper

We are expanding our team! We are seeking a full-time bookkeeper for general bookkeeping for our firm and portfolio companies. This job is open to U.S. citizens (although ZipRecruiter made us pick a city to post this role). We are not taking applications for 1099 contractors or from individuals who plan to work 2 jobs at once. This role is FT for applicants that will dedicate themselves to this role only.

What you will do here:

• General bookkeeping for our portfolio companies
• Work closely with the accounting team.
• Produce periodic financial statements -- P&Ls & balance sheets
• Accurately classifying all expenses, including credit card expenses; communicate with portfolio companies for follow up
• Monitor bank accounts for irregularities
• Understanding accrual basis accounting
• Support regulatory compliance
• Bank requisitions
• Filing admissions, sales and use tax returns
• File management and confidentiality
• Tax preparation
• Batching large volume of transactions through excel into accounting software
• Special projects that may come up periodically
• Must have experience working in high transactional (payroll & accounting) environment. Our office has 10K + transactions per month.

Skills & Experience:

• Bachelor's degree in accounting or a related field preferred
• Excellent work ethic: ability to self-manage time
• Strong written & verbal communication skills
• Multi-disciplinary skill set
• MUST be able to pivot in working with several types of businesses in the day-to-day tasks

• Understanding of payroll, 941s & 940s,: 5 years (Required)

• Remote work (must be demonstrated): 4 years (Required)
• Accrual accounting: 5 years (Required)
• High accounting & payroll transactions (ideally 3k+): 3 years (Preferred)
